June 30, 6:00 PM MDT 7:00 pm CDT
Join former West Siders Linda Gartz, author of Redlined, and Anita Solick Oswald for the first installment in the Dairy Arts Center Author Series.
The legacy of redlining can be seen right now when African Americans die at double the rates of whites from Covid-19. Redlining is a perfect example of the systemic racism that has led to the murder of George Floyd and aroused worldwide protests.
Please join Linda Gartz, for a discussion about her award-winning book, Redlined. Inspired by a trove of long-hidden family letters, diaries, photos, spanning the 20th Century, Redlined interweaves a riveting family story with the history of redlining. Linda will share this history, read short excerpts from Redlined, and speak about the federal government’s redlining policies that segregated America. She’ll display historic photos and talk about digitized versions of the original 1940s redlining maps. Plenty of time for Q&A.
I will be the host and interviewer. This is a Zoom event. Registrants will be sent the password to join before the event.
